Stack's Bowers & Ponterio - Maastricht October 2026 Auction, Lot 50131
EL SALVADOR. Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador. 5 Colones, 24.6.1976. P-117a. Duplicate Serial Number Error. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 to Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
A fascinating pair of notes both showing an identical serial number. The most likely explanation is that the numbering barrels got stuck, creating this pair. Highly unusual and rare, we have seen very few such error pairs for world paper money, regardless of country.
